- Kiel (28km) with shopping facilities, shipping museum, art gallery and computer museum can also be reached by bus (line 200, bus stop about 25m from our holiday home)
- Nord-Ostsee-Kanal (35km) - visit the most frequented artificial waterway in the world
- Holsteinische Schweiz and Seenplatte (35km) - Five large, interconnected lakes and in the middle of them our district town Plön. The lake trips by excursion steamer are especially popular (external link: boat trips from Plön)
- Bad Segeberg (75km) - a visit to the Karl May Festival is a "must" for many families (external link: Karl-May-Spiele)
- Lübeck (75km) - with its historical old town (world cultural heritage) and the famous marzipan

Veranstaltungen
- Kieler Woche 4(always at the end of June, 22 to 30 June 2024) - the central event for all sailing enthusiasts. Thanks to the entertaining and varied supporting programme, even landlubbers get their money's worth here (external link: Kieler Woche)
- Schleswig-Holstein Classical Music Festival (July/August) - classical music with a twist. Our insider tip are the concerts on the estate of the Emkendorf manor (about 50km): combine music in the old barn with picnic in the park of the manor house. Suitable for young and old. - Nordart The secret tip for art enthusiasts, from early June to early October. One of the largest annual exhibitions of contemporary art in Europe, hosted at the site of the historic foundry in Rendsburg (Nordart).
